Electricity knowledge sharing:Classification of solar power projects

2021-08-19

At present, the mainstream solar power plants in the world are divided into two categories, namely photovoltaic power plants and solar thermal power plants.

Photovoltaic power plant refers to a photovoltaic power generation system that uses solar energy and uses special materials such as crystalline silicon plates, inverters and other electronic components to form an internal power generation system that is compatible with the power grid and transmits power to the power grid.

Photovoltaic power plants are usually divided into centralized power plants and distributed power plants. Centralized power plants are large in scale, built in deserts areas, and send electricity to cities through high-voltage transmission lines. Distributed power plants are mainly built on the surface of buildings in cities to solve the power problems of users nearby, but they are small in scale.

The solar thermal power plant uses mirror reflection to collect solar heat energy, provides steam through a heat exchange device, and combines the technology of traditional steam turbine generators to achieve the purpose of generating electricity. This technology can store heat in a huge container through molten salt or water and other media, and it can still drive the steam turbine to generate electricity at night, which is not possible for photovoltaic power plants.
